Merodis is a well-established independent Corporate Finance boutique in Belgium. We organize competitive trade sales processes for companies and assets, and, selectively, we are also involved in buy mandates, financings (equity & debt), equity research for listed companies and strategic consulting. Our typical deal size ranges from EUR 10m to EUR 100m in EV and whilst we present ourselves as being sector-agnostic we have built a broad sector knowledge and database over the years.
Merodis was founded in 2008 and has successfully closed over 75 deals, consisting mainly of sell-side M&A transactions. Our team of 2 Partners and 7 analysts has close to 100 years of cumulated experience in analysing, valuing, advising and selling companies, as well as identifying the right international and local buyers/investors. Thanks to our background and past experience at top European investment banks (ING, UBS, Piper Jaffray, Exane BNP Paribas and ABN AMRO), we have built a track record and a solid reputation of successfully pitching equity stories in very competitive markets and, this, to sophisticated investors worldwide. We strongly believe that mid-sized corporates deserve a similar professional treatment as listed companies receive; hence we are meticulously replicating the same proven methodology to this segment of the market, which we consider as the Merodis market segment.
DIRK MARCKX
Managing Partner
Dirk Marckx has been with Merodis since May 2012. Dirk previously worked in Institutional Equity Sales at Piper Jaffray in London for over four years, where he was responsible for business development in continental Europe. He played a key role in several successful capital increases and IPOs. Before that, he worked for ING Financial Markets and KBC Securities for almost 10 years in the role of Specialist Equity Sales and Senior Financial Research Analyst. Dirk holds a Master’s degree in Management, a BSc in Business Engineering & Economics from Solvay Business School, Brussels (VUB) and a degree in Corporate Finance & Financial Analysis from CIAF, Belgium.
ARNAUD GOOSSENS
Partner
Arnaud has been working at Merodis since October 2016. Previously, he was an equity analyst at Exane BNP Paribas (Brussels), ING (Brussels), ABN AMRO (Brussels and Paris), SBC Warburg (now UBS) and Williams de Broë (both in London). His equity research career, with a focus on Belgian small and mid caps, spanned from 1994 to 2013 with management roles at ING and Exane. Arnaud also teaches Equity Valuation to Master 2 students at ICHEC Brussels Management School/Louvain School of Management. He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Economics from the Louvain School of Management.
FABIAN D’HOORE
Senior Associate
Fabian holds a Master’s degree in Commercial Engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven and studied at the Graduate School of Management in Saint Petersburg for one semester. He has been working at Merodis since 2020. Before that, Fabian started his career as a Financial Planner and Analysis Associate at nVent Thermal Management, where he gained insight into the operational functioning of a company and further sharpened his skills in financial analysis.
OLIVIER BAETEN
Senior Associate
Olivier completed a Master’s degree in law at the VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), as well as a Master’s degree in Business Engineering at Solvay Business School. Subsequently, he gained experience in Corporate tax and Transfer Pricing (1 year), followed by Transaction Services (5 years) at Deloitte and PwC. Before joining Merodis, Olivier was active in the M&A team of Rentokil, in charge of the majority of European countries and new markets.
VICTOR BOES
Senior Analyst
Before joining Merodis in 2021, Victor gained internship experience in Investment Banking at ABN AMRO and Nielen Schuman in Amsterdam. Prior to that, he completed an internship in Private Equity at Bencis Capital Partners and an internship in Audit at EY. Victor holds a Master’s degree in Business Economics from the Catholic University of Leuven accompanied by an Extended Master in Finance from Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea.
SARAH ROOBAERT
Senior Analyst
Sarah holds a Master’s degree in Business Engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven and engaged in a 6-month exchange program in Rio de Janeiro. After her first professional experience as a management consultant at Sia Partners, she gained experience within the private equity team Vendis Capital. Sarah joined Merodis in 2021.
FRÉDÉRIC BETHUME
Analyst
Frédéric holds a double degree in Financial Engineering from HEC-Liège and Ghent University. He also engaged in a 6-month exchange program at Kansai Gaidai University in Japan during his Bachelor’s degree. After an internship at Gambit Financial Solutions, a fintech and subsidiary of BNP Paribas Asset Management, Frédéric started his career as a Financial Consultant at TriFinance. During his projects in the financial departments of various companies, he was able to develop his knowledge in corporate finance. He has been part of the Merodis team since 2022.
ELIAH VANHOVE
Analyst
Eliah finished his studies in Business Administration at KU Leuven in 2022. After a 6-month internship, he joined Merodis on a permanent basis early 2023. To complete his knowledge, he is following an executive program in Corporate Finance and ESG investing at the Ehsal Management School.
